Canelos Amazon-Ecuador
Canelos, is a rural parish of the canton Pastaza located southeast of the city of Puyo - Amazonia Ecuatoriana.
In Canelos the lack of medicines, doctors, schools, had forced natives to build their own medical center, schools which most of the time children work in the agriculture fields. Most women are dedicated to the household duties and have very little knowledge of the outside world. Most children need clothing, shoes, a brand new medical facility, and help local schools with basic supplies.
The name Canelos comes from abundance of the the cinnamon trees, which have been exploded in the past. Now the last cinnamon trees are conserved in a small areas around the river Bobonza and in some private properties.
Nowadays the people of Canelos dedicate to production of fiber-palm, cinnamon and cacao, in addition to fishery and artistic handcrafts in ceramics.
Day-to-day life in Canelos has always been connected to the river Bobonaza, which still serves as the source of water and food to many families. The river offers a variety of fish , like "bocachico", "carachama", catfish, "barbudos" and, also it serves as a water transport to the other Kichwa villages like Chapeton, Pakayacu, Sarayaku, Montalvo, Kapawi and further to Peru.
Lo que tratamos de hacer en Canelo es cambiar la vida de niños para que puedan informarse y tener una educación digna.
